Rec: "Scab," by Snapetoy

Yes, I'm reccing comment porn.

Don't snicker. [info]snapetoy was apparently bitten hard when she read my post about Snape and Unrequited Love. She posted a two-part ficlet in the comments to that meta, Scab (link is to the first part).

Reading it, I felt pure admiration and glee. This is powerful, succinct, and polished: it also demonstrates perfectly why Snape is ideal for this particular theme. She created a marvelous little character study here.

And in the process, she answers those who commented on the post, querying whether such a theme could be handled in a dramatically satisfying way, and whether it could even have a resolution. This? Is short, but follows a clear arc and has a lovely angsty resolution.

She demonstrates that Snape truly is the Little Black Dress of fandom. But not only in terms of pairings, but in terms of themes or genres. And he's perfect, perfect for all sorts of flavors of angst. As in this ficlet.

*goes back to read it for the fifth time, and wallows in the lovely angst*

ETA: And, looking through the comments that piled up while I was at work, I found a second gem: [info]icarusancalion wrote comment fic with Snape and Percy. It, too, shows how perfect Snape's character is, for such a theme. The details are lovely here.
