The three people on my flist who also read Vorkosiverse fanfic have no doubt read this already. But perhaps someone else will be seduced by excellence . . .

I love Ivan. He's one of the remaining resources still largely unexplored in the Vorkosiverse canon, and you can tell there's a lot there to play with. And since gender politics in the Vorkosiverse are in flux (and complicated), there's plenty of room to play with the convolutions of sexual orientation and social reputation there.

This story does so in a lovely, intelligent fashion. It brings in Byerly Vorrutyer, whose snark and intelligence I always wanted to see more of. It's well-crafted, smooth, and has a charmingly humorous bite. And I'm recing it even though it is a very soft R (which, if you know my tastes, says quite a lot).

She's going to spoil me for other Vorkosiverse fanfic. I can just tell.
